The following are examples of how herbal medicine may be used:

A typical acute cold manifests with strong chills, low or no fever, no sweating, a clear runny nose and mild sore throat. In Chinese medicine it is known as a “Wind Cold”. One of the most common formulas used for this condition is Cinnamon and Pueraria Combination and should be taken at first signs of illness. Discontinue by the third day.

“Wind Heat” is more like a flu with fever, no or little chills, thirst, sweating, strong sore throat headache, runny nose and or cough with yellow or green discharge. The most common formulas used for this are Yin Qiao, or Gan Mao Ling to be taken at first signs of illness. Discontinue by the third day.
